INSULATION FOR FLAT ROOFS – HALLS AND WAREHOUSES
Insulation of a flat roof (thermal insulation) is realized through covering its surface with closed-cell polyurethane foam. The main advantage brought by the polyurethane foam is posed by its adhesive qualities. It means that the foam may be applied to roof made of sheet, bitumen paper, boards or concrete. Thanks to this, we guarantee effective thermal protection and waterproofing of roofs, i.e. water-tightness and resistance to other weather conditions.
Polyurethane foam, simplifies the process of preparing efficient thermal insulation for flat roofs, through elimination of some elements that can be encountered in case of traditional systems. The polyurethane foam itself, applied via airless spray technology, is effective thermal insulation and waterproofing, without any connections. It is highly significant in case of flat roofs, where inclinations are small, and slowly flowing water tends to penetrate gaps formed in traditional insulating layers. As it has been already mentioned insulation integrity is the crucial matter here, and in case of flat roof insulation, it simplifies the whole insulating process to a considerable degree.
The main advantages of polyurethane foam sprayed onto flat roofs:
- quick application
- excellent thermal conductivity coefficient, lambda λ= 0,022
- high thermal insulation tightness, no connections – a monolithic layer
- excellent adhesion to various surfaces
- dimensional stability at a high range of temperatures
- technical parameters stability, regardless of ambient conditions
- resistance to chemical and biological factors
- low self-weight, 2-5kG/m2
- strong adhesion and resistance to gust of wind
Insulation of a flat roof – what is worth knowing?
Before starting a roof insulation process, there is a need to carry out an inspection and undertake applicable preparatory actions. Surface preparation, consists in removing the dust, growing moss or loose elements of roof covering as well as getting rid of other factors that may deteriorate the adhesive qualities of polyurethane foam to the insulated surface. What is more, it is also necessary to clean or remove blockages from water drainage pipes, and secure skylights, chimneys and other elements of infrastructure, with protective foil
Having sprayed the polyurethane foam onto the surface, a layer protecting from (UV) radiation is prepared from paint (double-painted) or an additional waterproofing layer from polyurea elastomer is applied. The elastomer coating has additional features, one of which is high durability and tensile strength, what renders it highly resistant to impact of mechanical factors. Another important quality is high resistance to numerous external factors, such as UV radiation, precipitation and others, what is reflected in a very long period of durability.
It is also worth mentioning that if roof insulation is carried out with application of polyurethane foam, costs related to dismantling and utilizing the old roof covering are non-existent. Polyurethane is sprayed directly onto the old roof covering, on an adequately prepared surface.
Insulation systems for warehouses
Indoor storage space is an important part of industrial infrastructure. Preparing it is a complex process requiring experience and careful selection of solutions. You want your warehouse to be a perfect fit for your products, also in terms of ambient temperature that should be just right to keep them safe. This is where insulation comes in. The insulation system (or a combination of technologies) should keep the interior completely sealed off so that you can control ambient temperature and air humidity inside the warehouse. Protection against extreme temperatures and humidity are the main purposes of the task. Considering these parameters, an insulation forming an inner shell is the preferred approach but the actual design is up to you. Further, the optimal insulating material is polyurethane foam: tight, strong and durable but also non-toxic, so it can be safely used in warehouses holding food products. An efficient insulation system is just a must for any warehouse.
Insulation systems for steel framework structure halls
The steel-framed hall can be the most cost-effective design type for an industrial facility and it is indeed very popular. But, although it is cheaper and faster to assemble a modular hall than erect a “heavy” type of building, the solution just cannot work without investing in a professionally applied insulation system. The sealing off of the interior, exactly as required for your business application, calls for expertise, latest technologies and advanced methods of insulation. And Thermal-Tech offers the complete package. We provide optimal insulation by spraying polyurethane foam onto surfaces. The material is totally safe to the environment and, once it has been applied, it forms a solid shell around the hall interior. It is perfect for insulating large surfaces also because it can be applied faster than any other material. This is why your hall will not only meet your expectations but also be commissioned within a very short time.
